The district of Arganzuela is located south of the central areas of the city of Madrid. This district started to develop with the construction of the railway stations Estación Madrid – Puerta de Atocha and Antigua Estación de Delicias. Also, the Ensanche de Madrid Project expanded the urban areas for population growth, transforming this part of Madrid into an industrial hub during the XIX century. The industrial past of Arganzuela is alive in its historical places, where you can discover the attractions that transformed the city, such as Antigua Fábrica Osram, one of the former factories of the town from 1916, with a facade influenced by the American architecture of the time used now by a government institution. Visit the complex of Exhibition Hall El Aguila, an art center located where the 1910 former beer factory building of “El Águila” was.

Discover the cultural center Matadero Madrid, a former slaughterhouse complex from the early XX century transformed in the 1980s and now showcasing a wide variety of art exhibitions, innovative performances, libraries, and movie theaters.
