Chamartin is one of the most centric districts of Madrid. Its origins are unknown, but its early history dates back to 1222 as a small village of Chamartín de las Rosas on the outskirts of Madrid and covering the districts of Chamartín, Tetuan, and parts of Ciudad Lineal. The area started to grow from there, and several historical milestones changed its history and transformed the district into what it is today, including the Independence War in the early XIX century and the Spanish Civil War in the early XX century. The Chamartín district acquired its modern shape when it was added to the capital city in 1948 and has developed since then.

Today the district is home to several major businesses in Spain, especially in the areas close to the Gate of Europe, a corporate neighborhood with the iconic twin towers opened in 1996 that is a symbol of the district. Here also is located the Chamartín Train station, which opened in 1967. It is one of the main hubs of the city’s transportation, where you can move by bus, metro, and train.
