The invisible Village. – What to know before visiting

The small fishing village of Cudillero is a unique spot in Northern Spain. Located in the Principality of Asturias on the shores of the Cantabrian Sea, Cudillero stands out as one of the most beautiful villages in the region, with its unique landscape and colorful houses perched on a horseshoe of cliffs around the port. The early records on the origins of Cudillero date back to the XIII century in the late middle ages, in which the Village was a small fishing port dependent on the neighboring Pravia Council. Still, since the XIX century Cudillero has had autonomy, allowing it to experience development due to the importance of its port. 

Today Cudillero is an unmissable spot to discover while visiting Asturias. Visit the Plaza de La Marina and discover the impressive shape of this town, surrounded by colorful traditional houses. Its form is why the locals know the plaza as the amphitheater. 

From here, you can discover the beautiful historical architecture of the Parroquia de San Pedro, a gothic construction from the XVI century, or enjoy the unique views from the Faro de Cudillero from the XIX century. Next, discover the Palacio de los Selgas, a palace that works as a historical and artistic complex from the XIX century, with gardens, a church, and unique era decorations. It is home to some artworks by the Spanish painter Francisco de Goya. It is dedicated to preserving the cultural legacy of this building known by the locals as the Asturian Versailles.
